Preparation Tools for Your Little Leaguer’s Season
Little League season is quickly coming upon us, with teams being organized in February and practices beginning in March. February is a good month for the Moms and Dads to take their kids out back or over to the park, and play a little baseball once a week or more. It is important for a child to be somewhat ready for the season once practices begin. For kids, Little League is about relationships, sportsmanship and learning a little bit about how to deal with some ups and downs, but most importantly it is about having fun. We all want our kids to have an experience at the field that puts a smile on their face and joy in their heart. To help that, it is important that they get a ball and bat in their hands before the season starts to give them a little confidence and experience that will help them succeed a little more when they get on that field with their friends for the first time.
During this time, as much as all of us want to coach, it is important to focus on fun. Create an atmosphere where your child wants to play, and is having fun doing it. No child is going to be the same, so tailor your experience with your child’s interests, skills and behavior.
Here is a list of links to articles and sites that are full of drills, and knowledge that can help anyone. For the most part, there is no right or wrong drill in baseball, so there is no need to find the perfect one. The best drills and exercises are ones that kids love to do.
